I am pleased to introduce the St Menas Orphans and Vulnerable Children home. Official web site. It is intended to be informative and collaborative with information concerning our Establishment and activities. We anticipate that this link will be a platform for communication, accountability and closer links with our partners, friends, well-wishers, donors and other stake holders.

To help achieve our shared vision of ‘Eradicating and putting to an end street going children in Uganda’ through this vision,

our continued goal of restoring hope for the orphans and vulnerable children gains an upper hand. Jesus specifically says that, “When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, lest they also invite you in return and you be repaid.

But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. You will be repaid at the resurrection of the just” (Luke 14:12–14).

When Paul received his specific ordination for ministry the Apostles gave him only one direct charge: “Only, they asked us to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do” (Gal 2:10). He took collections from the other churches to meet the needs of the poor in the Jerusalem church (Rom 15:26). He further told the church in Corinth to take this collection every week, so that when Paul would arrive there, there would be no shortage for the poor in Jerusalem (1 Cor 16:1–4). When Paul established the criteria for eldership, one of the qualifications was that an elder be “hospitable,” a word which refers to how one loves and cares for the poor. It is evident that a care for the poor is a mark of New Testament ministry. As Keller puts it, “the work of mercy is fundamental to being a Christian.”
